Fish - Blue Gill

Also known as:
Brim, Perch, Sunfish
(Lepomis macrochirus)

Blue Gill can be distinguished by the blue spot on the gill and dorsal fin.  The spiny dorsal fin has from 9-11 spines.  

Spawning occurs when the water temperature reaches 70 degrees and usually lasts until fall.  Nests are in shallow waters about 2-3 fee.  Blue gill feed on aquatic insects and larvae.
