Documenting The Wildlife of Shadow Lake, Lilburn, Georgia

Rose-breasted Grosbeak

First seen in Shadow Lake 5-1-2003.  Has come back to our feeders daily for almost a week.  These birds are rarely seen, but a number of reports suggest increasing numbers in 2002 and 2003.
5-1-2005 update. Exactly 2 years after our first sighting our little friend is back.  We've seen him a couple times this week.

Each spring they pass through in early May
on their way to breeding grounds in southern Canada and the north-central and north-eastern states; some nest down the Appalachians and in small numbers as far south as the North Georgia Mountains.

They may be seen again in mid-October, while winging their way toward wintering areas in the West Indies, Mexico and south to Peru.
